The odds are out already - with one bookmaker anyway - and Sunderland lead the way in the League One betting, installed as early favourites to take the title next season.
Sunderland join Sheffield Wednesday as 7/1 market leaders at SkyBet with Charlton in at 9/1 and Ipswich a little behind as a 10/1 shot.
For those with a little less faith, or more realistic expectations, you can back the Black Cats to make the top six at 8/13 with the Owls rated at the same odds.
For the ultimate pessimists, there’s no published odds just yet for relegation into League Two at the end of 21/22. Cheltenham and AFC Wimbledon are the longest odds for the title though, each at 66/1.
There’s also precious little faith in the other pair coming down from the Championship to join us next season. Wycombe are priced in as 10th favourites to take the third tier title at 20/1 and 11/4 to make it into a play-off spot. Rotherham are in at a slightly shorter 12/1 and 7/4 respectively - interestingly the same as Portsmouth.
Truth of the matter, of course, is that no one has a clue how next season will pan out. There's a heck of a lot of players to leave and replacements to be signed this summer.
How that compares to season kick-off last term
But 7/1 on a Sunderland title win might be as good as you'll get. Ahead of the start of the 20/21 campaign, odds on a Black Cats title win were as short as 23/20.
Peterborough and Portsmouth followed just behind at 3/1 each. Eventual champions Hull City were rated as a 7/2 shot with this weekend's League One play-off final pair Blackpool and Lincoln priced at 11/2 and 7/1 respectively.
